Iscar Releases A Revolutionary Family Of Slitting Cutters Utilizing Tang-Grip Technology And The Sturdiness Of Sumo Tec Grades

Iscar now offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that incorporate the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the added sturdiness of the brand new Sumo Tec insert grades.

The concept, already verified successful in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been spread to slitting cutters. In the patented Tang-Grip clamping system, inserts are press-fit into their pockets with a special hand tool, and are held firmly in place without having the need for clamps, upper jaws or set screws that can weaken the insert and impede chip flow. The pocket composition uses cutting forces to hold the insert seated securely in position, eliminating any risk of insert pull-out. The Tang-Grip clamping system also fosters increased accurate slitting cuts plus increased pocket and insert life.

Iscar's Sumo Tec insert grades feature a unique post-coating treatment which substantially boosts tool life and reliability.

Introduced in late '07, the completely new Sumo Tec treatment flattens the insert's coated surface to eradicate microscopic stress raisers, reduce heat and friction and increase chip flow. The result is improved toughness and opposition to chipping and built-up edge, all leading to longer tool life. The golden-colored flank on Sumo Tec inserts aides wear detection. Size for size, Tangslit cutters give more teeth than Iscar's SGSF cutters, allowing higher feed rates.

Each Tangslit and Tang-Grip inserts are presented in J- or C-type chipformer geometries from Iscar.
